What I'm doing now

Afternoon everyone, 

how are we all feeling today? 

It's just a quick post as I've got so much to do (crochet wise) I also need to get back to the cake blog today and update some posts seeing as I've been straying away from it for a little bit. 

I'm happy to say that I'm currently off for a few days so there will be more posts coming this week, back on Sunday mind you. But then I'm off again for the 8th as I start back up at college again for my Second year of cake decorating! So excited, it's come round so quick! Will be so happy to get back, hope I've not forgot anything ;) 

Today consists of turning these 89 1st rounds...

Into these 2nd rounds, so I'm hoping to get as much done as possible! Though sadly, I've forgotten my darning needle and I'm running out of the Cream, so I can only complete so many squares, shall have to see if Mr. B can nip me up to the wool shop ;) I'm sure he will if I give him the petrol money haha 

I finished all the first rounds last night, together now; in total I have all 126 pieces, though there all at different stages. 

89 1st Rounds

23 2nd Rounds

4 3rd Rounds

10 Completed Squares. 

But I do have all the 126, so I don't have to make anymore at the moment, which is one thing ticked off the list. Hopefully if I get a load done today I will be able to possibly finish the whole thing this week! Ahh exciting times!

I'm then off again next week on the 10th - 11th as It's my birthday and I have plans to celebrate my 21st! An Asda chocolate birthday cake is in order, the same one as every year! It's so nice though!! Especially with some cream poured over a wedge :) 

Jess is hopefully coming around again next week for another Crochet Catch up, which will be nice. She's wanting to start a baby blanket too which is good! I made some bunting the other day for my mum to put up in the caravan, she loves it!

I will post more later but for now I need to get cracking on with stuff!

What a Gloomy Evening!

Evening everyone! 

How are we all doing? Up to much? 

The weather was so lovely this morning down in South Yorkshire today, it was sunny and bright and I even got sent home from work early! Which was good as I've got quite a bit of crochet done, woo!

Though it is rubbish in some ways as I won't get paid much for today, but it's not the end of the world!

But yeah, it was lovely and sunny, though it was really humid which can only mean one thing over here in the UK. Thunderstorm and  my god it has thrown it down! It's stopped for now but it has been coming and going and also thundering and lightening! I do love listening to the rain though, it's so peaceful. 

As I said, I have been able to get up to speed with some of the crochet for this blanket of my mums :) 

It's been nice, she was at home today so we sat watching The Boxtrolls - We still like watching Disney films regardless of our ages, who doesn't love a good Disney film? :)

Mum sat and did some of her Knitting and catching up with all the baby jumpers she's doing and I've been sat catching up with blankets and her's too! Though I could only go unto the 2nd round as I don't want her to see what colours I'm doing! Here was the before shot of all the 1st rounds I made!

And here's all the 2nd rounds! I finally feel like I'm catching up with it all and I'm quite positive that I may get it all finished or at least a couple of days late for her birthday! It's better than a month late though! Granted they all need darning. I will hopefully be getting them all to round 3 this afternoon. 

I'm back at work tomorrow which is rubbish, only because it's a weekend haha but I don't mind I get to see Mr. B tomorrow as well so I'm excited about that too! Don't you think flowers looks just as beautiful with raindrops on them?

Plans for the day

Hey everyone! 

How are you all? What do you plan on doing today? 

Right now I'm enjoying a late breakfast of a lovely bacon and eggs sandwich with a caramel coffee, as I've just finished watching the rest of the first season of New Girl, which I loved! 

I'm going to get as much of my crocheting down today as there is no reason as to why I shouldn't! I've got the day off and not working today and it's the only chance I have to get stuff sorted!

I made a load of the first round last night for the Sunburst Granny blanket I'm making for mum, which is supposed to be all finished for next week - it's not going to be done I can assure you! 

I have got 20 squares so far and need something like 190, so I don't know when it will get get finished but I will keep you updated on the progress :) I'm still doing the squares in group stages, it's so much quicker and easier to learn :) 

A couple of days ago Mr. B and I went up to the park and picked some fresh Blackberries, they we're so nice! Much better than buying them from the shops, they're right of my doorstep so no point in hopping on a bus to go and get some from Asda is there? Fresh is best! 

I made an Apple, Pear and Blackberry crumble with them, which was just lovely with a lovely pool of custard - Yummy! I will post the recipe up on the cake blog soon and when I do, I shall post the link up on here for you all - as well as the other recipes :) 

Just look at how beautiful they are though! Gorgeous! 

For now I am off! But I will be posting later with what I'm doing or things I've made!

Bag Update

Hey everyone! 

Hope we're all okay? 

It's just a quick update really, you know the bags that I we're making a couple of weeks ago? 

Well...They're finished!

Here's the front of the Space bag - I did eventually add in some red ribbon for the drawstring, but I forgot to take a pic! I'll post another one up at some point!

Here's the space one that I made out of the lovely, vintage space material that I found in my Nan's sewing room. This material and all the others are so unique and I just love them, more so because they were what my nan purchased years ago, and now that she's not around anymore, I feel like I have some small connection with her and I love it. She would of been happy and pleased that I'm making good use out of them!

Back in the day my nan was a seamstress, and I remember going to Colebrothers in town and walking around aimlessly with her, looking at all the different materials and buttons and what not, it was so lovely. I also I have a pink blanket with white sheep on, that I remember going with her to get when I was younger :) 

Anyway!...

And here's the back of the bag! Such lovely colours! 

I also made another one, I couldn't help myself! This material was a little bit thicker which was nice to work with, but not as smooth going through the machine as the other two (Green pinstripe one) 

The material was lovely and bright, it reminds me of Spain for some reason. I think it's the colours and flowers on the material itself, so lovely and vibrant though. I added some lime green ribbon for the drawstring and I think it makes it stand out all together and brings in those colours! 

Here's a close up of the pattern and the drawstring!! I love it! I know that the stitching on the ribbon is red, I didn't have any green so just had to improvise, but I don't mind as it's only for me!

I will do another post soon as I an working on mini project! Keep your eyes open for it!

Cute Drawstring Bag

♫ Bail Me Out - All Time Low ♫ 

Hey everyone!

How are we? 

I thought I would post up the progress with the bags that I we're making a couple of days ago, I manage to cut up a lot of material for it, the same material that I will tell you the story about. I was going to do the lining, but I got mixed up between two patterns and had to learn all over again how to use a sewing machine - but my mum helped me, which was nice cause I don't get to spend much time with her, so it was lovely :) 

I quickly remembered and learnt again how to use a sewing machine, not used one since I left school...5 years ago ;) 

So here's the drawstring bag that I started a couple of days ago, I sadly forgot to put the lining in (The bright pink flowery material) this happened because I was reading one pattern online, then went back to it the next day and it was a different pattern but by the same person, I just didn't look hard enough. 

I don't think I did too bag for my first attempt at making a bag, I love it so much and can't wait to get making some more of them - Basically making project bags, as I have quite a few projects to do this year! It's going to be a busy one, as well as keeping up on the other blogs, new job and college, but I promise I will update as often as possible!

There's a nice bit of room in the bag though. The bag so far holds; three balls of wool, a mini sewing kit and my crocheting hooks and back for them. The wool and everything are still in a carrier bag. simply because the material is old and a bit "fusty" so it needs to be washed. 

The material was my Nan's that she bought years ago but never used, she recently passed away after battling with Dementia for around 4 years. I miss her terribly and think that putting this material to use as well as her sewing machine is what she would of wanted and she would of been happy and proud that I am now learning. I knew that she used to be a seamstress, but recently learnt she used to be one within House Of Fraser before it changed all those years ago. 

My Nan used to always knit my jumpers and cardigans and I still have them from all those years ago, she then taught my mum and auntie when they we're young and I have slowly learnt over the years how to make things as well, I taught myself how to crochet, my Nan could - but by the time I wished to learn it was too late with her Dementia. Through my Mum and Nan, I learnt how to Sew, draw, colour, bake and overall just to be creative and I am so thankful for what they have taught me over the years. 

I miss my Nan so much, but when I make these bags out of the material she had, I can't help but feel that a bit of her is with me :) xx

Love Me Sew's - Drawstring bag Pattern

The original sizes for the material was 14.5 inches x 11 inches, though I decided this would be too small for a blanket project and decided to up the sizes to 16 inches x 14 inches. Which made the bag perfect, I had enough room for what needed to go in it and there was also extra room for the 1cm seem allowance all the way around the bag. 

I was going to use some different material for the drawstring, but found some lovely lilac ribbon instead, which I find looks a lot nicer and the colours are lovely together. The material in white and like a sea green pinstriped bag, which gives it the feel of  a large paper sweet bag :) Which I love so much.
